Social Media Policy
How we publish, engage, and disclose on social media in accordance with federal, state, and platform requirements.
Purpose & Scope
WindRainFlood.Com publishes this Social Media Policy to disclose how we operate on social media platforms. It states what we publish, how we disclose paid relationships, what we do not publish, and how we comply with the requirements that apply to content creators on social media.
This policy applies to all social media accounts operated by WindRainFlood.Com, including accounts on X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, TikTok, Reddit, Bluesky, and any other platform where WindRainFlood.Com maintains a presence. It also applies to any content we publish on those platforms, including posts, videos, images, stories, and comments.
Our Social Media Presence
WindRainFlood.Com maintains social media accounts to:
- Share educational content about disaster recovery, federal programs, and fraud prevention
- Alert followers to new resources, updates, and time-sensitive recovery information
- Engage with disaster survivors, advocates, and community organizations
- Amplify public information from official sources such as FEMA, HUD, and state agencies
Our social media accounts are informational and educational. They are not a substitute for the content published on WindRainFlood.Com, and they do not provide personalized advice or case-specific guidance.
Sponsorship & Material Connection Disclosure
WindRainFlood.Com follows the principle of sponsorship identification: when content is sponsored, paid, or produced in connection with a material relationship, that relationship should be disclosed clearly and conspicuously so the audience can evaluate the content accurately.
What We Disclose
If WindRainFlood.Com publishes content on social media that is sponsored, paid for, or produced in connection with a material relationship, we will disclose that relationship. Material connections that trigger disclosure include:
- Payment, gifts, or free products or services
- Employment, ownership, or equity interests
- Affiliate commissions or revenue-sharing arrangements
- Any other benefit that could affect how the audience weighs the content
How We Disclose
We use plain-language disclosure terms that are clear to the audience. Acceptable disclosure language includes:
- #Ad or Ad
- #Sponsored or Sponsored
- Paid partnership with [Brand]
- I own equity in [Brand] or I am a co-founder of [Brand] (where applicable)
Disclosures are placed where the audience will see them before engaging with the content. On video platforms, disclosures appear both verbally and on-screen. On image and text platforms, disclosures appear in the caption, not buried below a "more" link or in a profile bio alone.
Platform Tools
Where a platform provides disclosure tools — such as Instagram and Facebook's Paid Partnership tool, YouTube's disclosure checkbox, or TikTok's Branded Content toggle — we use those tools as a supplement to, not a substitute for, plain-language disclosure.
What We Do Not Do
- We do not accept payment to publish content that contradicts our editorial standards or our mission.
- We do not publish undisclosed sponsored content.
- We do not present paid content as organic editorial content.
- We do not accept political advertising, issue advocacy advertising, or advertising from foreign governmental entities.

WindRainFlood.Com complies with the terms of service, community guidelines, and content policies of each social media platform we use. We review platform rules before publishing and monitor for changes. Where platform rules and this policy overlap, we follow the stricter standard.

Glossary Term: Sponsorship Identification
Definition: The practice of identifying paid material as paid, so the audience knows who is speaking and on whose behalf.
In Practice: At WindRainFlood.Com, all sponsored or materially connected social media content is labeled with plain-language disclosure. No paid content is presented as organic editorial content.
Why It Matters: A reader who cannot tell advertising from editorial cannot evaluate either. Identification is the minimum condition for a trustworthy publication.
Glossary Term: Material Connection
Definition: A relationship between a content creator and a brand that could affect how the audience weighs the creator's endorsement — including payment, gifts, employment, or ownership.
In Practice: At WindRainFlood.Com, material connections are disclosed in the content itself, not buried in a profile bio or terms page.
Why It Matters: The audience's ability to evaluate an endorsement depends on knowing whether it was paid for. Disclosure is what makes that evaluation possible.
Glossary Term: Clear and Conspicuous Disclosure
Definition: A disclosure that is placed where the audience will see it, in language the audience will understand, before the audience acts on the content.
In Practice: At WindRainFlood.Com, disclosures appear at the beginning of captions, in the first seconds of videos, and in both verbal and on-screen form where applicable.
Why It Matters: A disclosure that exists but is not seen does not satisfy the purpose of disclosure. Placement and prominence are part of the disclosure itself.
